About me
I'm a 46-year-old dad with a lifetime of real-world experience. Streaming since late 2025, and in that time I've built my own OBS apps, automated my editing and clip workflow, and turned the whole thing into something that actually runs. I'm not an expert with all the answers. I'm the guy next to you who's a few steps ahead and happy to share what he's learned.

Straight answers
Do I need a good PC?
No. You can start with a phone, a console (PS5 or Xbox) or a laptop. A phone works for TikTok LIVE, which needs you to be 18+ and have 1,000 followers. A gaming PC can come later, if you ever need one.
Your internet matters more than your hardware. The minimum is 25 down and 5 up. The beginner guide covers the rest.
How much does streaming cost?
You can start close to free. OBS, the streaming software, costs nothing, and the platforms are free to join. What you’ll eventually pay for is gear: a headset, a webcam and decent internet.
Don’t buy it all up front. Add one piece at a time, in the right order. That order is in the beginner guide.
Can I stream on a budget?
Yes, and that’s how I’d start. Use the phone, console or laptop you already have, and use OBS because it’s free. Get your internet to 25 down and 5 up before you spend anything else.
If you do buy something, start with audio. People forgive a rough picture, but not bad sound. More in the beginner guide.
